Dance Instruction on:
"An Introduction to the Passionate and Primitive Zambra"
Passion-filled, Earthy, Defiant, Fun with Crisp Precise Movements
-Elena introduced the
Arabic-Spanish Fusion dances which were
traditional during the Moorish period of Spain's
history, from when the
Arabs who lived in North Africa conquered and ruled much of Spain.
These dances require a wide and diverse range of skills,
from the liquid fluidity of Middle Eastern movements
to the sharp precision of Flamenco.
and
"Rumba with a Fan - for the Oriental Dancer"
Specialty
Rumba with Fan
- fluid and smooth, earthy and accessible.

Elena Lentini has been dazzling audiences from all over with her grace and intensity. She brings to dance a unique lyrical focus, mystery, and a commitment to the integrity of every movement as she sculpts fluid designs with her body.
Elena's interpretation of traditional belly dance style evokes the timeless expression of feminine grace and beauty.
The
atmosphere in Elena's classes is gentle and encouraging, yet dynamic and
exciting. She patiently leads novice dancers through introductory stages,
while challenging seasoned performers to go beyond what they have already
achieved and demanding ever greater feats of artistic inspiration.
Classes begin with a simple yet fluid warm-up which can be mastered quickly by
dancers of any level. Elena proceeds to basic and then more complex isolations
which are the foundation for many of the movements of this form. Choreographed
sections concentrate on rhythmic interpretation, personal expression, creative
interpretation, focus and presentation. Elena's classes go beyond steps alone.
Technique becomes a tool for expression rather than an end in itself. Elena
challenges her students to make the movements their own and insists on the
quality of the dancing rather than the bare correctness of the choreography.
Elena Lentini is distinguished for her impact on Oriental Dance. As principal dancer with the renowned Ibrahim Farrah Near East Dance Group and with her own companies, she has performed in most of the major American concert halls, including The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Yale Repertory Theatre, and Boston's New Life Hall.
For three decades, Elena has taught and performed throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and most recently Australia and South Africa.
Her Ballet, Hand of Fatima, was hailed by Arabesque magazine as "Brilliantly conceived, lavishly choreographed ... yet paradoxically the effect of a minimalist Zen Garden."
